My research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms of SVDs, using genetic forms of these diseases, largely indistinguishable from sporadic forms, as paradigm. I have a long-standing interest in CADASIL, an ischemic form of SVD caused by mutations in the Notch3 receptor and a more recent interest in the Collagen type IV disease, which leads to intracerebral bleeding. We use a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular biology (RNAseq), biochemistry (mass spectrometry), immunohistochemistry and high resolution imaging on well-established mouse models of these diseases.
